Trash2Trends Runway Show 2017

MediaMedley.jpgmediamedleyrunway.png      For the Media Medley trench coat I designed for Orlando’s annual Trash2Trends fashion show, I sketched, designed, and drafted the coat’s pattern to get the shape and style of the coat. I then sewed it together, cut the compact discs into tiles, and adorned the coat with the Compact disc embellishments. The inspiration is the evolution of music technology that changes rapidly so now.

For instance, how do we repurpose obsolete technology of the recent past? Kathryn models the trenchcoat made of discarded clear plastic wrap, purple netted produce bags as the sleeves, and mosaic detailing made of compact discs. The Florida Uniform store of Gainesville, FL donated irregular/unsellable scrubs for the gray slip dress with white plastic gripper peplum skirt. Music Matters of St Augustine donated the compact discs for the trench’s detailing.
